Associate Professor in Sociology (ATR1515)

Vacancy Details

Description

The University of East Anglia is launching an undergraduate degree in Sociology in September 2020. It will draw on the expertise of Sociologists in different schools across the university, allowing students to choose from a number of specialist pathways as they progress through the course. The degree will be based in the School of Social Work. This is a nationally and internationally recognised centre of excellence in social work teaching and research, and home to the highly successful Centre for Research on Children and Families.

We wish to appoint an Associate Professor who will take a leadership role for this exciting initiative. The primary criteria for appointment will therefore be a strong academic record in research, teaching and administration, appropriate for an Associate Professor. We welcome applications from candidates with a range of relevant knowledge and experience, with a preference for a candidate with a demonstrable interest in Sociology’s interface with Social Policy and Social Welfare. The successful candidate will have a commitment to a multidisciplinary ethos for understanding and teaching Sociology, and the enthusiasm to take full advantage of this unique leadership opportunity for the subject within the university.
