Associate Professorship of Clinical Therapeutics

Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences in association with St Hilda’s College, Oxford

Applications are invited for an Associate Professorship in Clinical Therapeutics, based in the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS), with effect from as early a date as possible. This is a joint appointment with a Supernumerary Fellowship at St Hilda’s College, and the appointee will be based in the Botnar Research Centre in NDORMS. RCP approval is ongoing and will be confirmed with all applicants.

You will join a dynamic and collaborative department, and will contribute significantly to the scientific and clinical agenda of the new Centre for Clinical Therapeutics under the leadership of the Climax Professor of Clinical Therapeutics, Duncan Richards.

The main duties of this post will consist of developing an independent research programme related to the themes of the Centre for Clinical Therapeutics. This will include securing private and public sector funding to support the research programme, appointment, management and supervision of staff, as well as managing and developing the research programme. You will also design and deliver a programme of teaching and skills development for postgraduates in medicine and you may be asked to contribute content to existing undergraduate and graduate courses.

This is a clinical post and you must be medically qualified; hold GMC registration with a licence to practice and be at GMC Specialist Register level. Applicants are invited from across medical disciplines but expertise in the following areas is preferred: clinical pharmacology, immunology, inflammation. You should have a track record of clinical translational research including experience as an Investigator in clinical trials, as well as demonstrating evidence of a strong interest in clinical therapeutics.
