Southampton Law School - Associate Professor

Applications are invited for a permanent post in Southampton Law School at the level of Associate Professor (level 6).

As a Law School, we are committed to high quality legal education and scholarship. To that end, we intend to strengthen our research and teaching across a number of areas of the curriculum. For this post, we would welcome applications, particularly, from candidates with an interest in the following areas: Arbitration Law, Company Law, Employment Law, Environmental Law and Intellectual Property Law.

Successful candidates will have a PhD in Law or equivalent professional qualifications and experience.

Successful candidates at level 6 will have a track record of excellence in research and education including a demonstrated ability to design, deliver and lead in core LLB modules as well as at postgraduate level. You will be expected to have a demonstrable research record of outputs and engagement with research networks and public policy, as appropriate, as well as some experience of research funding bids. In education you will demonstrate to delivery of high quality teaching and a commitment to building a vibrant student experience and community. Visible, engaged, and collegiate, you will be required to contribute to the management and leadership of the Law School including through line management responsibilities.

Research in the Law School currently clusters around a number of research centres including those for Private and Commercial Law (PCL); Maritime Law (IML); Law, Policy and Society (CLPS); Health Ethics and Law (HEAL); Law, Internet and Culture (iClic) and the Stefan Cross Centre for Women, Equality and Law. Colleagues are also involved in individual and collaborative scholarship in numerous other fields, often inter-disciplinary.
