Fixed-term: 1 year

The Department of Veterinary Medicine is seeking to recruit a Junior Clinical Veterinarian in Cardiology (Service Intern) with effect from 1 December 2019, or as soon as possible thereafter.

This new role will provide clinical and research training in cardiology, and may appeal to a candidate who wishes to pursue a residency in the future. The Junior Clinical Veterinarian in Small Animal Cardiology (service intern) will help facilitate the smooth running of the Small Animal Cardiology Service, and will be trained to assist in all aspects of the service. The cardiology intern will be involved in the care of all cardiology cases, including those undergoing interventional procedures. The intern will be expected to actively participate in weekly cardiology rounds, a journal club and book club. Moreover, with guidance and support, the intern will be expected to complete a research project suitable for publication. Besides training on standard routine cardiology diagnostics (e.g. echo, ECG, Holter reading, pacemaker programming), the successful candidate will be trained in transoesophageal echocardiography.

Applicants should be a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and have at least 12 months’ experience in companion animal practice and/or have completed a rotating internship.
