Lecturer (Assistant Professor)

We are looking for a computer scientist to lead research, teach, and help with the running of the Department. We’re particularly looking for someone with research interests in one or more of the core research areas of the Department: Artificial Intelligence, Human-Computer Interaction, Mathematical Foundations, and Visual Computing.
The Department of Computer Science at Bath includes internationally renowned experts, such as Dr Joanna Bryson who has been named as one of the top 10 AI influencers, and Dr Neill Campbell who is a Royal Society Industry Fellow in Visual Computing. We are a highly collaborative team, working together across research topics and disciplines in our Department and beyond. We have recently launched the UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training in Accountable, Responsible and Transparent AI which brings together science, engineering, humanities and social sciences. As well as supervising PhD candidates, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with our growing set of partners. These include Rolls-Royce, DeepMind, the FCA, ONS, and universities including São Paulo, Zhejiang and Tsinghua.
What you will do as a Lecturer
Research – You’ll work with colleagues, students and researchers to develop and publish papers. You’ll apply to bring in research funding. You’ll also find ways of opening your research to the public, for example, by delivering talks or holding demonstration days.
Teaching – You’ll have a few courses to run. This includes designing and delivering the content through lectures, tutorials, and labs. You’ll be educating and inspiring some of the brightest students in the country.
Helping with the running of the Department – You’ll have a few roles to help the Department run smoothly. You might help with student placements, contribute to admissions, or lead a research team.
