Chair of Cybersecurity

The University of Nottingham are inviting application for a Chair of Cyber Security to join our growing School of Computer Science. In this brand new role, you will bring your research, leadership and excellence to our School and the wider Faculty of Science. You will look to make a significant impact on the direction, strategy, objectives and results of the University by influencing and shaping the available resources as appropriate to meet the current and future needs of the University.

As our Chair of Cyber Security, you will be responsible for research and teaching within your specialist area along with undertaking academic leadership and managerial responsibilities within the School. Reporting directly to the Head of School, you will possess in-depth knowledge of cybersecurity to enable the development of new knowledge, innovation and understanding in the field. As an established academic, your reputation in cybersecurity will be recognised both nationally and internationally and you will have a proven track record attracting research funding, mentoring both research students and researchers successfully.

The Faculty of Science has more than 5000 undergraduates and over 1400 postgraduate students, and comprises of seven Schools, all of whom have achieved an Athena Swan Award. The School of Computer Science is a modern and dynamic place to work and study providing state-of-the-art facilities and undertaking internationally leading research. We pride ourselves on the friendly environment and work hard to maintain a relationship between staff and students by holding frequent, non-teaching events such as coffee mornings and annual celebrations such as the Christmas party, a Chinese New Year meal and Summer Barbecues.

You will be PhD qualified, with an extensive track record in attracting research funds from UK, Europe and Asia. You should also have a proven ability to plan and lead the delivery of research and teaching programmes and to develop sources of funding.
