Professor in Accounting

Aston Business School

Aston Business School is one of Europe’s leading business schools, with 78% of its research rated world-leading or internationally excellent by REF 2014. It is accredited by AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS. The Accounting Department has a strong reputation for rigorous and relevant research. Among others, the Department has a long tradition in management accounting and control research and co-hosts the annual Management Accounting Research Group (MARG) Conference. In addition we research in accountability and governance, in particular in the not-for-profit and public sectors, mainly using social and organizational theory. We are seeking to further strengthen these areas, but also wish to develop the area of accounting education, as we believe this will enhance the various BSc, MSc and MBA programs we offer and participate in. We support participation in international conferences, supervision of PhDs via Dean’s or ESRC scholarships, and networking opportunities with businesses and professions. Other research support includes funded opportunities to host prominent visiting scholars, seed corn funding for research projects and excellent support for research grant applications.

We seek an inspirational and motivated thought leader to contribute to the Department’s research, teaching and the wider community. Applicants should demonstrate a passion for their subject, which is preferably along the lines mentioned above, and be able to communicate that passion effectively to Aston’s beneficiaries. They must be able to demonstrate world-leading, impactful research output and have a highly cited publication record in leading accounting and related journals. We are seeking to appoint someone who also aspires to undertake some management responsibilities for staff, including potentially becoming Head of Department. Therefore, they must have significant experience in mentoring junior faculty, leading externally funded research projects, membership of editorial boards of academic journals, doctoral/postdoctoral research supervision and postdoctoral teaching experience. The role will be located in Birmingham and there is a requirement for you to live within commuting distance of the Aston Triangle main campus.

Currently the Accounting Department at Aston Business School has 26 full-time/part-time members of staff. For further information, see here: ?" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">
